

Bags with silver frames came into fashion among Dutch women starting the last quarter of the 17th century. The bag with a frame was traditionally worn under the apron with a hook on te belt or skirt waist-band. The bags ussulay had a silver frame but could aslo be made from other metals. Because silver was costly, the frame was often handed down from mother to daughter. There is a wide variety in the form and decoration of bagas with frames
